Powers of Attorney (Plirexousia)

Please notice: As there is often a long waiting list for Powers of Attorney appointments, an alternative and quicker procedure is to order a power of attorney at a Dutch notary, to authenticate it with Apostille (please ask your notary) and to translate it officially to Greek (list of translators). It can then be used in Greece.

1. The principal (i.e. the person who will sign the power of attorney) must be of legal age (18 years or older)

  2. Ask your notary to send the text of the power of attorney in Word format to our email (grcon.hag@mfa.gr). Please do not send scanned documents or faxes. This mail should include some necessary data: Full name,  Father’s and Mother’s name, Place and Date of Birth, Full Address, Occupation, Passport or Identity Card number, Place and date of issue of passport or ID. Please provide also a telephone number where can we reach you.

3. As soon as we get the mail, we will contact you to set up an appointment.

4. If you are not a Greek citizen, we need an additional certification of your identity. This can be a legalisation of your signature (legalisatie van handtekening) at your Gemeente, which should also mention the number of your passport or identity card that you will present at the Consular Office. The above is necessary for both Dutch citizens and citizens of another EU country.

5. Do not forget to bring your identification with you (passport or identiteitsbewijs). Please notice that driving licenses cannot be accepted as means of identification.

6. If your knowledge of Greek is not sufficient or you do not understand at all, you are expected to hire an official translator/interpreter of your absolute trust. The cost of the translator/interpreter is assumed by you. Here you can find a list of official translators for Greek language in the Netherlands.

Notice: The original power of attorney will be kept at the Consular Office for indefinite time. You will be given a certified copy which you can use whenever necessary.
